Here you find the most important answers about the Y-MOUNT system.
Does the Y-MOUNT fit my saddle / bike?
We have designed the Y-MOUNT to fit most saddles and seat post combinations. Please check the clamp width of your seat post. The width of the clamping area of the seat post on the saddle rails must not exceed 60 mm.
Where does it not fit: bikes with dropper post and the Cube Agree 2023-2025.
If something does not fit, you can cancel your order within 14 days. We will then send you a free return label (only within Germany) and you will receive a refund.
Do I have to buy Y-MOUNT and the accessories separately?
Y-MOUNT works like a modular system. First, you need the Y-MOUNT to be able to use the Y-MOUNT accessories. All accessories in our shop are compatible with the Y-MOUNT.
We also offer bundles where the Y-MOUNT is included.
There are two Y-MOUNT variants, one for round and one for oval saddle rails. How do they differ?
The two common standards for saddles are:
- round saddle rails (7x7mm), usually made of metal (steel, titanium)
- oval saddle rails (7x9mm / 7x10mm), usually made of carbon
Only the length of the screws differs between the two Y-MOUNT versions. The Y-MOUNT for oval saddle rails also fits round saddle rails, but the screw ends will protrude by 2 mm. Conversely, the Y-MOUNT for round saddle rails must never be mounted on oval saddle rails, as the screws will not grip deeply enough and may tear out. We offer the titanium screw sets for round and oval saddle rails separately as spare parts, so that you can convert your Y-MOUNT at a later date.
I moved my saddle very forward or backward. Will the Y-MOUNT still fit?
In most cases, yes. The Y-MOUNT requires a clamping area on the saddle rails of 5 mm in front of and behind the seat post clamp. These can usually be adjusted without any noticeable loss of seat position.
How do I attach bags, stabilisers and other accessories to the Y-MOUNT?
The Y-MOUNT has two coupling screws as an interface for accessories. The stabilisers, which serve as holders for our large bags (13l, 10l and 7l), are screwed directly onto the Y-MOUNT using the two titanium coupling screws. Small bags, the bottle cage adaptor and rear light holder are either screwed on directly or attached with a quick release adaptor (applies to quick release bags). The two coupling screws can be loosened in a matter of seconds. This allows a quick changeover. The Y-MOUNT can remain permanently on the bike.
Can I use the Y-MOUNT system off-road?
Yes, the Y-MOUNT system is also stable enough for off-road use. However, depending on the type of load, the maximum load capacity of 6kg must be reduced for off-road use.
What do I need to consider during installation?
Please use a torque wrench and adhere to the specified torques. You will need a T20 Torx key for assembly. No grease is required for assembly. If you do not have a precise torque wrench with a resolution of 1 Nm, tighten the screws on the front and rear yokes ‘hand-tight’. Overtightening will cause distortion and may damage the Y-MOUNT.
What is the difference between Stabilizer Fork and Stabilizer Frame?
The carbon fork is identical on both stabilisers. The Stabiliser Frame additionally has a bracket that can hold two standard bottle cages. In summary: if you need additional bottles on your bike, go for the Stabiliser Frame. If not, then the Stabiliser Fork is the right choice.
Are spare parts available?
Yes, we offer titanium screws as sets in our shop. But you can also contact us if you lose or damage other parts (yokes, threaded inserts).
Does the Y-MOUNT require maintenance or is there wear and tear?
No, but we recommend checking the screws with a torque wrench from time to time. For off-road use or with a lot of load, we recommend ‘medium-strength’ screw adhesive eg. Loctite 243.
Can saddle rails be damaged by the Y-MOUNT?
Yes, as long as the maximum load limit of 6 kg specified is not exceeded, there will be no problems. This also applies to carbon saddle rails.
